Kyra Philbert

Kyra Philbert (she/her) is a queer performance artist focused on failing femininities. Based in Vancouver (on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Nations), Kyra creates ephemeral experimental works designed to be interactive and experienced exactly once. Her performances regularly incorporate critical history about Canadian Blackness and/or dessert (lately cake). During her Master of Science in Nursing degree, Kyra developed Nurse Angélique and was awarded a University of British Columbia Public Humanities Grant to showcase the performance. Her performances have been endured at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, SUM Gallery, and York University.

Sierra Philbert

Vancouver, Canada

Sierra is a musical theatre performer, deviser, and clown. Her work spans across all genres and forms but always centers around her favourite muse – herself! Born and raised in Toronto, Sierra moved to the UK to continue her education at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and is now based in London (the real one). She has collaborated on/performed in shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Toronto Fringe, Switch Festival, and Lambeth Fringe.

Blurring boundaries between reality and fiction, this immersive piece explores the relationship between age-gapped half-sisters Kyra and Sierra in the hour between dog and wolf.

Springing forth during the crepuscular of last century, Kyra was raised on new moon girl magazine. Now an ambitious perfectionist with multiple degrees, Kyra isn’t troubled by the sisterly eclipse. Nor is Sierra, born almost exactly 10 years to the day to Kyra. After leaving the colony behind to break dawn in the heart of the Empire, the carefree baby is enjoying her time and her life far far away. Sierra has decided to come visit home… just in time for her birthday. The whole family will be there, so please join us for a TWILIGHT celebration!
