Announcing ‘Exploring Performance Art” Workshop with Jürgen Fritz. Details here…

Germany
Wednesday, September 18, 8pm
VIVO Media Arts, 1965 Main St., Vancouver BC
Jürgen Fritz will be performing in collaboration with the Vancouver Bach Choir.

Born 1958 in the Black Forest, Germany, Jürgen Fritz studied theatre and the science of music, working as a theater director, curator and actor. His largely site-specific approach is characterized by concentration and precision, using simple materials such as bamboo, a bell, or marbles to create “performative images”.

He is co-founder and co-organizer of the Festival Platform for Young Performance Artists in the Kunstfabrik am Flutgraben, Berlin and the International Summer Camp at Castle Bröllin / Brandenburg. His pedagogical approach in these workshops is to negotiate presence and question borders, both social and gendered, thereby creating challenging situations and possibilities in the art of workshop participants.

Fritz is also co-founder of Black Market International, and has worked with the International Cooperation of Performance Artists since 1985. He has presented his performances across Europe, as well as in the US, Canada, Mexico, Asia and Australia. He has lived in Hildesheim since 2005, where he is co-founder of the International Performance Association.  He is the artistic director ZOOM!, an annual festival of performance art and has since 1995 lectured on performance art at universities across Germany.
